Welcome from James Newman, Chairman of the LEP

The Sheffield City Region sits within the heart of the UK covering an area spanned by local authorities within South Yorkshire and the northern part of the East Midlands region.

Over recent years, the Sheffield City Region Forum has overseen work in the City Region to increase the pace of economic growth through collaboration.  Following Government's invitation to come forward with proposals to establish a Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), we set up a LEP and the Forum stood down in 2010.

The LEP is based on a relationship between the public and private sector and a strong commitment to work together to ensure the growth of a rebalanced local economy.  The LEP is led by the private sector and will contribute significantly to the renewal of the national economy as a whole.

It works across a geographical area that reflects the economic reality, incorporating parts of North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire and surrounding areas that are important to the Sheffield City Region economy.

The LEP Board provides strategic economic leadership and direction as we concentrate our efforts to grow our economy.

The formation of the LEP is a fantastic opportunity for business and local government to work together in partnership to make a real difference.
