Waverley groundworks pave way for enterprise

Major groundworks are now well underway at the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) at Waverley.

Yorkshire based property company, Harworth Estates, has started work to build an important access road and key infrastructure to the Enterprise Zone site.

The Enterprise Zone was given official Treasury sign-off just last month and is designed to attract investment to the Sheffield City Region by offering tax incentives, relaxed planning rules and superfast broadband.

The Enterprise Zone is being seen as a major step forward for the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), as part of its vision to turn the Sheffield City Region into a worldwide hub for modern manufacturing and technology businesses.

Harworth Estates Development Manager, Duncan Armstrong-Payne, said,

“There is a real buzz in the air at the AMP around the construction of this important road. It is great to see people working on the site.

For Harworth Estates, this road is a major milestone in a process that will see this former colliery site deliver new jobs and high quality homes to the Sheffield City Region.”

James Newman, Chairman of Sheffield City Region LEP, said,

“I am pleased to see that work is underway at AMP Waverley and the LEP fully supports the construction as it gathers momentum at this important Enterprise Zone site.

It is clear that the Sheffield City Region has the number one UK Enterprise Zone for modern manufacturing and technology and I look forward to welcoming some major investors over the coming year.

The LEP is proud to be working side-by-side with landowners and other partners, including Harworth Estates, to encourage economic growth and create jobs for the Sheffield City Region.”
