Groundwork organisations support communities in need, working with partners to help improve the quality of people’s lives, their prospects and potential and the places where they live, work and play. Working within the Dearne Valley community we help to bring about practical action i.e. making things happen on the ground and helping realise the Eco Vision. This is achieved through a range of schemes including Green Doctors, Green Roofs, Green Check, Bikes 4 All, Eco & Carbon Footprinting, Environmental Businesses Services and much more.
Groundwork has been delivering projects and programmes aimed at encouraging people to change their behaviour and respect the global environment for many years. In keeping with the ethos of the Dearne Valley Eco Vision Groundwork are committed to working towards a society of sustainable communities which are vibrant, healthy and safe, which respect the local and global environment and where individuals and enterprise prosper.
Working alongside the Dearne Valley’s community, public bodies, private companies and other voluntary sector organisations we are committed to delivering projects and programmes that benefit:
• People – creating opportunities for people to learn new skills and become more active citizens.
• Places – delivering environmental improvements that create cleaner, safer, greener neighbourhoods.
• Prosperity – helping businesses and individuals fulfil their potential.

The college is a partner in the New University Challenge proposal to increase opportunity to access Higher Education in the Dearne Valley, this proposal will embrace the need to develop programmes offering a wide range of skills and knowledge linked to the Eco Vision. With adults and employers the college is working towards offering specific training. The College building at Manvers opened in 1996 was acknowledged as a building designed for energy conservation. The college continues to work on improving its practice in all areas of its operation.
