The Environment Theme Task Group aim to rediscover the asset that is the river.
The main priorities for this group are focussed around:
Revealing the river – physical access to the river and identifying linkages with local communities;
Improving access to the river – developing a coherent network of walk and cycle routes;
Information – providing information at key sites in the Dearne Valley and promoting the network of key sites across the Dearne Valley;
Biodiversity – mapping natural assets across the Dearne and enhancing and extending wetland areas in the Dearne;
Tourism - promoting the natural assets and green infrastructure of the Dearne Valley to attract visitors;
Health and wellbeing – providing opportunities for healthy leisure activity and promoting more active lifestyles.
