The Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) was approved by Government in October 2010.
It brings together the eight local authorities of Barnsley, Bassetlaw, Bolsover, Chesterfield, Doncaster, North East Derbyshire, Rotherham and Sheffield to work with businesses and other partners towards a common goal of encouraging growth and economic activity to create a prosperous and sustainable City Region.
Welcome from James Newman, Chairman of the LEP
James is the first Chairman of the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership Board, established in November 2010.
He is also the Chairman of two Public companies, senior Non-Executive Director of two others, Chairman of Finance Yorkshire and a former Master Cutler and is well-known across the City Region’s business community. He has recently retired as Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors at Sheffield Hallam University.
James is a Yorkshireman born and bred with a career spanning more than 35 years, which includes senior roles with a large number of different industries including manufacturing, services and utilities. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers.

Sylvia Yates, Executive Director
Sylvia joined the Sheffield City Region (SCR) at the beginning of 2008 and, with the Chairman, works closely with the Leaders, Chief Executives and officers in the SCR local authorities, as well as with a number of key national and sub-regional organisations, to drive forward the Sheffield City Region's ambitions for economic growth.

Ellen Cutler, Inward Investment Director
Ellen joined the SCR LEP in November 2011 and is responsible for targeting companies across the UK and overseas in a number of the SCR’s identified priority sectors, to invest in the SCR to create growth in economic activity and jobs. This will include promoting the SCR’s Enterprise Zone along with other parts of the City Region.
Ellen’s role will also include developing strong relationships with UK Trade and Industry (UKTI), the Government-sponsored organisation set up to promote inward investment into the UK, as well as raising the profile of the Sheffield City Region and all it has to offer.
She will also work alongside other organisations across the whole of the SCR, including the existing business support agencies of the Local Authorities, private sector partners, Chambers of Commerce and Universities, in order to secure the future prosperity of the Sheffield City Region.

Pat White, PA to Executive Director and LEP Chairman
Pat is PA to Sylvia Yates and also provides admin support to James Newman. Her other duties include the smooth running of the office including assisting in the content managmene tof the Sheffield City Region website.
