Welcome to the Sheffield City Region Website

The Sheffield City Region sits within the heart of the UK and includes the four local authorities within South Yorkshire as well as five local authorities, two county councils and a national park authority covering the northern part of the East Midlands region.  Together we have committed to collaborative action in a bid to accelerate the economic growth of the area.

The Sheffield City Region is one of eight city regions making up the Northern Way, which together aim to bridge the £30bn productivity gap between the North and the average for England.

It is estimated that the Sheffield City Region could increase its total output by 12.2% by 2016, making a potential £3.8 billion contribution to raise the output of the North closer to levels seen elsewhere in England.

The Sheffield City Region Forum has identified a number of strategic priorities which we think will benefit from a more collaborative approach at a city region level. Joint issue boards have been set up to tackle these priorities and drive forward activity.

We are determined to get the level of working right, with a real emphasis on local delivery. Collaboration needs to show genuine added value, where working together means bigger and better opportunities for increased economic growth for the city region economy.

The Sheffield City Region Executive Team, led by Sylvia Yates as Executive Director, will develop that collaboration and move the Forum and Sheffield City Region onwards.

I look forward to telling you more about our progress in the Sheffield City Region as work advances.
